How God Works

The Ant and the Contact Lens

A true story

Brenda was almost halfway to the top of the tremendous granite cliff. She was standing on a ledge where she was taking a breather during this, her first rock climb.. As she rested there, the safety rope snapped against her eye and knock ed out her contact lens. 'Great', she thought. 'Here I am on a rock ledge, hundreds of feet from the bottom and hundreds of feet to the top of this cliff, and now my sight is blurry.'
She looked and looked, hoping that somehow it had landed on the ledge. But it just wasn't there.

She felt the panic rising in her, so she began praying.. She prayed for calm, and she prayed that she may find her contact lens.

When she got to the top, a friend examined her eye and her clothing for the lens, but it was not to be found. Although she was calm now that she was at the top, she was saddened because she could not clearly see across the range of mountains. She thought of the bible verse 'The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth.'

She thought, 'Lord, You can see all these mountains. You know every stone and leaf, and You know exactly where my contact lens is. Please help me.'

Later, when they had hiked down the trail to the bottom of the cliff they met another party of climbers just starting up the face of the cliff. One of them shouted out, 'Hey, you guys! Anybody lose a contact lens?'

Well, that would be startling enough, but you know why the climber saw it? An ant was moving slowly across a twig on the face of the rock, carrying it!

The story doesn't end there. Brenda's father is a cartoonist.. When she told him the incredible story of the ant, the prayer, and the contact lens, he drew a cartoon of an ant lugging that contact lens with the caption, 'Lord, I don't know why You want me to carry this thing. I can't eat it, and it's awfully heavy. But if this is what You want me to do, I'll carry it for You.'

I think it would do all of us some good to say, 'God, I don't know why You want me to carry this load. I can see no good in it and it's awfully heavy. But, if You want me to carry it, I will.'

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Yes, I do love GOD. He is my source of existence and my Savior. He keeps me functioning each and every day Without Him, I am nothing, but with Him....I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. (Phil. 4:13)

No Man Knows

I'll let the Word of God speak for itself. This is what the Bible says about Christ's return:
“Therefore stay awake, for you do not know the day your Lord is coming … the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect." (Matthew 24: 42, 44).
But we DO know He is coming for us, very soon:
"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power." 2 Tim 3:1-5

"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places." Mathew 24:7

"For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye, brethren, are not in darkness." 1Thes. 5:2,4

"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of His coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." 2 Peter 3:3-4

How to know you will not be left behind and that you will spend all eternity with Him in Heaven:

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Acts 16:31

"If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

Terrific Tuesdays

MOTHERS

Real Mothers don't eat quiche; they don't have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough doesn't come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don't want to know what the vacuum just sucked up.

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?' and get their answer when a little voice says, 'Because I love you best.'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth is not measured by height or years or grade...It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to Mother...

The Images of Mother

4 YEARS OF AGE - My Mommy can do anything!

8 YEARS OF AGE - My Mom knows a lot! A whole lot!

12 YEARS OF AGE - My Mother doesn't really know quite everything.

14 YEARS OF AGE - Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either.

16 YEARS OF AGE - Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned.

18 YEARS OF AGE - That old woman? She's way out of date!

25 YEARS OF AGE - Well, she might know a little bit about it.

35 YEARS OF AGE - Before we decide, let's get Mom' s opinion.

45 YEARS OF AGE - Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?

65 YEARS OF AGE - Wish I could talk it over with Mom.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair ... The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul ... It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows, and the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows!

Frost And Ticks

This morning, we woke up to frost. It was 33F when the kids left for school. Really? I mean, come on, we're into the second week of May!!!
Yesterday, I fortunately only planted three annuals which had to be covered before I went to bed. It had been sunny and warm, though a bit windy. Thankfully, a friend warned me in advance!!!
Driving to a cookout and Bible Study, late yesterday afternoon, I found a tick crawling around on my neck! What a creeper! I call them "perverted parasites" because of the places I've found them on me and the kids! --LKR

Sunday's Song--Up from the Grave He Arose (Low in the Grave He Lay)

Up from the Grave He Arose (Low in the Grave He Lay)

Low in the grave He lay, Jesus my Savior,

Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!

Vainly they watch His bed, Jesus my Savior;
Vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord!

Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior;
He tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!

Up from the grave He arose,
(He arose!)
With a mighty triumph o'er His foes,
(He arose!)
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose!
(He arose!) He arose! (He arose!)
Hallelujah! Christ arose!

How to Eat to Prevent Cancer

Of course, staying away from processed and artificial foods and eating as organic as possible is important, too. Raw veggies are better than when they are cooked. In other words, the more natural, the better for you!

Sunday's Song--I Need You To Love Me

Why, why are You still here with me
Didn't You see what I've done?
In my shame I want to run and hide myself
But it's here I see the truth
I don't deserve You

But I need You to love me, and I
I won't keep my heart from You this time
And I'll stop this pretending that I can
Somehow deserve what I already have
I need You to love me

I, I have wasted so much time
Pushing You away from me
I just never saw how You could cherish me
'Cause You're a God who has all things
And still You want me

Your love makes me forget what I have been
Your love makes me see who I really am
Your love makes me forget what I have been

I need You to love me,
I need You to love me,
And I'll stop this pretending that I can
Somehow deserve what I already have
Somehow deserve what I already have
I need You to love me.

Sunday's Song--I'm Not Religious I Just Love The Lord

Well there's no doubt about it
I really, really want to shout it now
Singing I'm not religious
I just love the Lord

Well you can go to church every Sunday
And think it's kinda neat
But the good Lord wants your love full-time
Seven days a week
And you can give away everything you own
And even give it to the poor
but listen, my friend, in the end
You gotta love the Lord.

No doubt about it
I really, really want to shout it now
Singing I'm not religious anymore
There's no doubt about it
I really, really want to shout it
Singing I'm not religious
I just love the Lord

Well you can look real pious, even spiritual
Dressed up in your pride
but religion's just a mask you wear
And God sees who you hide
Acting like a Pharisee
Pretending you're a saint
Foolin' everyone you know
But God don't need your stain-glass faith
He just wants your soul

Don't go to church
Before you go to Jesus
Don't go to church
Before you go to Jesus.

Sunday's Song-- Never Alone

Never Alone

I waited for you today

But you didn't show
No no no
I needed You today
So where did You go?
You told me to call
Said You'd be there
And though I haven't seen You
Are You still there?

I cried out with no reply

And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone

And though I cannot see You

And I can't explain why
Such a deep, deep reassurance
You've placed in my life

We cannot separate

'Cause You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen

I cried out with no reply

And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone

We cannot separate

You're part of me
And though You're invisible
I'll trust the unseen

I cried out with no reply

And I can't feel You by my side
So I'll hold tight to what I know
You're here and I"m never alone.

Honoring Our Veterans

Thanks to all of our men and women in the military--past, present, and future--and their families. It is a great sacrifice that is very much appreciated and should never be neglected in remembering who they were and what they fought for. Freedom is not free and must be protected. Those that were injured or died serving their country must never have died in vain. Value your freedom, and thank a veteran for what they did for you! We must not take our freedom for granted! --LKR

From The Heart--Can I Live

This is Nick Cannon's song, "Can I Live". It's about his mother's last minute decision not to abort him when she was in an abortion clinic, laying on a gurney. Powerful.

To any young, scared women out there who are pregnant, Nick is empathetically speaking to you from his heart. There are many people who understand what you are going through and care very much for you and your unborn child.
May you be able to muster the same courage his mother did! :-) --LKR

Can I Live

I'm talking Ma
I know the situation is personal
but it something that has to be told
as i was making this beat, you was all i could think about you heard my voice

[Verse 1]
Yeah just think just think
what if you could just
just blink your self away..
just just wait just pause for a second
let me plead my case
Its the late 70's huh
You seventeen huh
and having me that will ruin everything huh
it's alot of angels waiting for their wings
you see me in your sleep so you cant kill your dreams
$300 thats the price of living what?
Mommy I dont like this clinic
hopefully you'll make the right decision
and dont go though with the knife incision
but it hard to make the right move
when you in high school
how you got to work all day and take night school
hopping off da bus when the rain is pouring
What you want morning sickness or the sickness of mourning

[Chorus]
I'll always be a part of you
trust your soul know its always true.
If I could talk I'd say to you
CAN I LIVE, CAN I LIVE
I'll always be a part of you
trust your soul know its always true.
If I could talk I'd say to you
CAN I LIVE, CAN I LIVE

[Verse 2]
I'm a child of the king ain't no need to go fear me
and I see the flowing tears so know that you hear me
When I move in your womb that's me being scaring, 'cause who knows what my future holds
Yo, the truth be told you ain't told a soul
Yo, you ain't even showing I'm just 2 months old
Through your clothes try to hide me deny me, went up 3 sizes
Your pride got you lyin' sayin' it ain't nothin' but a migraine
It ain't surprisin' you not tryna to be in WIC food lines
Your friends look at you funny, but look at you mommy, that's a life inside take a look at your tummy
What is becoming, ma, i'm Oprah bound
You can tell he's a star from the ultrasound
Our spirits connected doors open now
Nothing but love and respect thanks for holding me down
She let me live...

[Chorus x2]

[Nick Talking]
Its upliftin' fo'real ya'll
I ain't passing no judgement
ain't making no decisions
I'm just telling ya'll my story
I love life
And I love my mother for giving me life
We all need to appreciate life
A strong woman that had to make a sacrifice
Thanks for listening
Thanks for listening
Ma thanks for listening
